Japan Trip: Ameyoko Market

Ameyoko Market is to Japan what Petaling Street is to Malaysia. I was more impressed by the setting of the place rather than what they were selling. The market is located underneath the local railway lines. Every few minutes you can hear the tracks shuddering as the train approaches the station and comes to a screeching halt.

I still think that Bangkok owns in the market department. But the district that this market is located in is beautiful, making it hard to believe that this place used to be a black market after the World War Two. Right across the streets is the Ueno Park, a huge stretch of nature smack in the middle of the city and home to a few museums. Sounds familiar? Hint: Central Park
