Had dinner with a few friends here on my last visit to London. Busaba Eathai was recommended by Sue Jan, whom we had lunch with. It's a really popular place to dine at, and we had to queue for quite a while to get in. The restaurant is dimly lit and square wooden tables are arranged throughout the space like a school cafeteria.

They pack as many people as possible on to one table, so expect to meet some new acquaintances during your dining experience. I wasn't particularly fond of that concept but it seems to be the norm in Chinatown, but understandable considering the amount of customers around.

Food was really good. We had the tom yum, green curry, fried squid, chili prawns, duck curry, pineapple fried rice, pandan chicken and stir fry beef. Fried squid was particularly amazing! Best.fried.squid.ever.

By the way, I am gauging the standard of food here relative to the United Kingdom. On that scale this restaurant does really well. But it's nothing compared to what we get back home in Malaysia. Any run of the mill Thai restaurant can churn out the same standard of food for a fraction of the price. You'll be surprised by the high standards Malaysians set for their food. True story.

The portions are meant for one person so sharing it among five people means that you get a maximum of two bites a dish. We had to order extra servings for certain dishes. Bill came close to a hundred pounds so yeah, definitely very expensive considering that I left still feeling quite hungry.

Good food, but meager portions will make me reconsider my next visit.
