30 Hour Famine: Part 1

About a week ago, I participated in the 30 Hour Famine Camp which was organized by the peeps in my school. Well, the main organizer is World Vision.

What was it like? 30 hour without food was not too bad. At least we got to drink water! The organizers were also kind enough to conduct lots of activities which took our minds off the food.

Here is living proof that I participated!

Like I mentioned just know, thank God we were allowed to drink water.

The 30 hour started off with some group activities. We were given tasks to do like creating our group banner and even come up with a cheer.

My group was named B.A.L.L.S. which randomly stands for Be Always Loving Like Santa...??? Hei, it was my group leaders idea! But who cares, I thought it was funny.

After that, we moved on to do some pretty cool stuff. We had to build a shelter! The given materials were a stack of newspaper. a roll of tape and anything that we could find. This group did a fairly good job on their shelter.

Here is MY group. The only thing I can say that is if we were hit by a storm in real life, chances of us surviving would be really low.

  2. This was potentially a good activity to have people become aware of the tragedy of famine.
    Be Always Loving Like Santa?
    How about:
Be Aware of Losing Lives by Starvation.
OR maybe... If you're loving like Santa, you would help people who are suffering from famine?
    Hmmmmm.....
Good for you for participating, Stanley.

  3. This was a great idea. I can't imagine being REALLY hungry. More people should do projects like this to get them to thinking about what others experience.

  13. Zhoe, yeah it was pretty cool despite the hunger. You should organise one at your area in the future =)

RennyBa, a great weekend to you too! It was fun just chillin around with friends for 30 whole hours.

Selerines, we actually got some cereal to eat. My school provided some additional snacks like bread and chocolate xP

Wendy, you should join in the future! When you're not pregnant of course. They are kind of strict with health concerns and only encourage "healthy" people to join. You need to eat for your baby =)
