Kari Ayam Raub & Kepala Ikan

Ooohh, thinking about this makes me drool already. I've been going to this restaurant every year probably since I was a kid. The whole family would normally stop here for lunch when we balik kampung during Chinese New Year. This is our itinerary for the past 10+ years or so- Wake up at 7, leave at 9, arrive at this restaurant at lunch time, and proceed to uncle's house.

This place have the best curry chicken and fried chicken that I have ever tasted. But its different in the sense that it has a very distinct taste that you can't find anywhere else. Its probably a type of curry but I don't know the specifics. We normally have that with a messy plate of rojak mee which is quite good as well.

This restaurant definitely holds many memories. Its been around during my dad's time as well so I'm the second generation customer haha. The restaurant is constantly packed with customers which is also another sign of good food. In general, Raub has really good food if you know where to go. There are many hidden gems all around known only to the locals. I have yet to see any media coverage regarding the food scene in Raub yet so at the moment it is still quite exclusive.

We visit this restaurant only once a year so it is sorta like a family tradition. I do think its special since we don't usually do something repetitive like this nor are we the type to make our own traditions. Every year when we visit this place, place our order, and watch the waiters slide the plates filled to the brim with food on our table- as we take that bite, that taste of familiarity reminds us that all is well with the world at that point of time.

Gosh, the holidays have certainly made me more dramatic.
