Pork Fest @Dave's, One Utama

This was one heck of a lunch. There's no better way to kick off the Chinese New Year celebrations with good food and good company. I think we can call ourselves the 'Pork Gang'; Daryl, Qi Hui, Chris, Grace and Pedro. A few days before school ended I was chatting with Daryl about pork and the good restaurants we encountered. Four days after that, we have six very hungry people with lots of porky food on the table.

We had a full slab of pork ribs, pork knuckles, a half meter pork pizza (though I thought that it looked like a whole meter), pork spaghetti, apple crumble, brownie with ice cream, and tiramisu. We wanted to order the suckling pig but they only serve it for dinner. Such a pity but this gives us a reason to revisit this place in the future.

I was trying out the new flash system and kept them waiting for quite a while because I was busy tinkering with camera settings. Flash photography is hard! Still have so much to learn in photography. I think after a while someone was saying something along the lines of "Can we eat already??".

The other thing that I enjoyed besides the food was the company. I don't think that I've had the chance to hang out with most of these people outside school. Fun fact: Qi Hui is not from Melaka! Oh the shockness. Also, some people have amazing abilities like deciding that they're not full, deciding that they're not able to get fat, and being Mexican.

I shall now go into intricate details about the food to stimulate your salivary glands. The pork ribs were tender and well marinated. When you bite the flesh, it pulls away so easily from the bone. And the taste, oh the taste! With every bite all your troubles seems to melt away and all is well in this world. Next the pork knuckle. Lots of meat and lots of crispy fat. I love the feeling of pork skin crunching in your mouth. Its like the goodness of KFC's crispy chicken drumstick times one thousand. And the pizza. The half meter long pizza. The dough was not to thick so it still has a crunch. On that was a mayonnaise base with ham, pineapple and cheese. I remember how silent it became when we started eating the pizza because everyone was busy enjoying the food. The spaghetti was alright. I think it adds balance to the meal because we Chinese people always need carbs like rice in our food. Dessert was the curtain call and wrapped up the good meal we had. We were suppose to pose for a photograph with the desserts but we realised that we forgot to do that when we were almost done. LOL!

By the way, the restaurant is newly renovated and I practically walked passed it. Would have missed it if it wasn't for Grace. Now it no longer has the old pub look. The makeover gave it a more family dining feel and a generally brighter atmosphere. The bill came to about Rm 50 per person which is less than what we expected. Looking forward to our next session!
