A miser and his money
Mr. Andrew here is the main character of our story. He is the richest guy in town. Sadly, he is not the nicest. In fact he is well known for this character of his, that little kids call him Bob. No one knows why but I am sure they do not mean well.
What happened to the little girl who was tugging at his pants? Mr. Andrew shoved her away without even looking at her. No surprise here though as he did that to everyone who has ever asked him for help. A normal person would feel pity or even a tiny bit of compassion but to Mr. Andrew she was nothing but another person trying to take his money away.
Well, Mr. Andrew is at the market place to buy groceries. Nope, he does not have anyone to do his shopping for him. He never got married or bothered employing someone. He would not because he refuses to pay a decent wage. The streets were full of people in need. They sat there by the dirty gutter which was buzzing with flies. The sight and smell of it would make you choke. Mr. Andrew was oblivious to his surroundings. After all he came to buy fish and nothing else.
“I’ll give you 10 dollars, nothing more!” Mr. Andrew shouted at the fishmonger. “Don’t overcharge me just because I am rich!!!”
Truth is that the fish Mr. Andrew wanted to buy was really expensive. It was a new fishmonger and stingy Mr. Andrew wanted to take advantage of it.
“But this fish has special properties! Its magic.” the fishmonger argued.
Mr. Andrew dismissed the fishmonger as a lunatic. He paid for the fish anyway and went home. He hopes to find out what the fish can do and sell it for a profit. Curiosity grabbed his mind as to what the fish could do. Well, what could a dead fish do?
Mr. Andrew never found out. A group of people covered with masks jumped out of the bushed and attacked him. He screamed out for help. However, the world was oblivious to him just as he was to it. Nobody “heard” him.
Blow after blow landed on his body. He started begging for his life. The pain was getting more excruciating by the minute. He was bleeding all over yet the beating continued. Time seemed to slow down, making the experience more unbearable.
If the motive was to steal Mr. Andrew’s money, the attackers would not have taken too long. They would have taken it and left anyway. These people were clearly there to hurt him. There people were the beggars on the street, the people whom Mr. Andrew had shoved aside when they begged him for money. Recently, Mr. Andrew made a petition to the city council to kick out all the beggars from the city. He was taking away the very little that they have.
So, they decided to take justice into their own hands. Every blow they landed gave them an eerie feeling of satisfaction. A famous man once said that people forget who they were in violence. They thought of the little girl who Mr. Andrew shoved aside earlier and pounded even harder. She could not take the hunger anymore and collapsed on the streets……dead.
Mr. Andrews could not move anymore. The attackers have left him for dead on the road. He tried moving but wasted his energy trying. His backbone was broken to bits thus paralysing him. The sun was setting and the chill was setting in. The win blew unmercifully at him. He was left exposed to the cold as his clothes had been torn to rage.
He breathed out his last breath as his spirit left his body. He does not know I yet but he was doomed to a fate worst than the beating he had moments ago. Heaven was definitely not his final destination.
Teachers had fun reading those essays but as you grow up you realize that its time to move on. So now, I try to be more descriptive in my writing, you know, show a little maturity =)
