Botin: Oldest Restaurant in the World
It was the day after getting my exam results for the year and I was up for a little celebration. I've read somewhere about this restaurant in Madrid called Botin, which according to the Guinness Book of Records is the oldest restaurant in the world. They specialise in roasted suckling pig so I was really keen to trying it out. This Spanish restaurant back home in Malaysia does a wicked version of the dish. I was curious about how the 'real thing' would taste like.
The restaurant was filled with a considerably older crowd, mostly tourist. There was already a small line of people waiting to get in when I got there. At this point I was still travelling alone, so table for one it is. I had some house wine and did the whole thing where I swirled it around, pretending like I knew what I was doing.
I came for the roasted suckling pig so I ordered it. It was so good. I had a whole slab of meat to myself. This was definitely a different experience from the one I had in Malaysia. Both taste great but was presented differently. The pork I had at Botin was so juicy and tender that the juices would flow onto the plate. I savoured every single bit, and let the flavour linger on in my mouth for a bit before taking another bite.

The bill came to a decent amount but I can't eat like this everyday. There's this little thing called the budget that I should really stick to.
