Taman Megah Home

Recently, my church youth group organized a trip to this home. This place houses kids with different disorders like down syndrome and hyperactivity. Some kids were immobile and just lay down there on the floor. There was also kids who HAD to be tied to the pillars to keep them from running around.

It was nice to visit them. Not that it was to make me feel better about myself but it was great to see them taken care of pretty well. All they need is the occasional love from the complete strangers that drop by.

For me it was amazing to see some of them so happy despite their situation and warmed up to us immediately. It kinda gives you that warm fuzzy feeling that someone appreciates you being there. Communication was limited to smiles and kind gestures because most of them can't speak very well (an those who speak are not really in their right minds).

Found this outside that place. Pretty random huh.....oh and I wouldn't try calling that number.

This boy was tied to one of the pillars. He would reach out to grab us when we come within his reach.

This was another kids who was tied to the post. She looked pretty sad and we tried to cheer her up. All we could do was give her some love because she had limited responses.

We even had a sing-a-long session!

Yup, the balloon session was really fun.....until some kids got bored of the balloons and decided to let it go. The fan was still switched on so.

Visiting that home was really enjoyable and something different to do on a Saturday afternoon.

Show them some love!

  1. How very sad, Stanley. I'm glad you were able to go and give them some happy attention. They are often forgotten otherwise.

  2. Stanly, It is a wonderful thing to share God's love - especially with these sweet children.

  5. Oh my, they sure look happy that you are there! What a nice visit. I don't think it is legal to tie them to pillars here - they would be allowed to wander with someone having to keep up with them all the time.

  6. Kay, it was worth it after looking at all their happy faces =)

    Museswings, its truly is!

    Friendz, yup it is. =)

Rajesh, yes it was really fun. Perhaps its just me but they seem really detached from all the problems in the world. Nothing to bother them.

Julie, i wouldn't want that to happen too but I think its more for their protection. Some might just run out to the main road with lots of cars. At least they're taken care quite well.
