Macarons @ T Forty Two, Bangsar Village 2

We were hunting for macarons the other day and came across this bistro at Bangsar Village 2 called T Forty Two. I've came across lots of pictures of these colourful little things online and have always wondered if they taste as good as they look. So when I started spotting these things on sale around Malaysia I decided to give it a try.

The thing is that macarons are freaking expensive! On average these things go for about Rm 4 a pop. Having been brought up in our local dining scene, things like these are considered to be in the 'kuih' category and should cost as much as a curry puff.

But taste wise, WIN.

The thing just crumbles in your mouth. To those who have never tasted a macaron, it is like discovering vanilla ice-cream for the first time. A macaron does not taste like a biscuit or a cake. Macarons taste like macarons. They define their own taste category.

I don't think that I've had enough macarons to be able to judge how good the ones at T Forty Two are but objectively, I liked it. They come in four flavours; chocolate, passion fruit, strawberry, and green tea. And for the more cultured you have the foie gras flavour. That is essentially a duck liver macaron. Hmm.

T Forty Two has branches at Empire Subang Jaya and Bangsar Village 2. I personally think that macarons are delicious but due to their gourmet pricing I would definitely think twice before purchasing them. I reckon that the next person who finds a way to mass produce macarons will definitely make heaps of money.
